Pizza & Gelato Cooking Class in Rome – Shared Experience

Join us in the heart of Rome for a fun shared cooking class, where you’ll learn how to make pizza and gelato just like the Italians. This family-friendly experience is ideal for anyone who wants to explore Italy’s food culture in a relaxed, hands-on, and unforgettable way.

Type: Shared / hands-on cooking class.
Schedule: Every day at 11:00, 15:00, and 18:30.
Meeting point: The exact meeting point and directions are provided once your booking is confirmed.
Duration: 3 hours.

Create your own Roman-style pizza

Your experience begins with an introduction to your professional English-speaking local pizza chef (pizzaiolo), who will lead you step by step. You’ll start by making your pizza dough from scratch, learning how to achieve a soft, elastic yeast base. The chef will show you how to stretch the dough very thin for a classic crispy Roman-style crust, or leave it slightly thicker for a softer, fluffier base, according to your preference.

Next, you’ll select and combine fresh, seasonal toppings inspired by traditional Roman recipes and learn how to bake your pizza correctly, including how to handle a professional pizza shovel. To finish, the chef will give you practical advice on how to reproduce the same results in your own oven at home, so you can enjoy Roman-style pizza wherever you live.

Explore the world of authentic Italian gelato

While your dough is resting, you’ll turn your attention to Italian gelato. During an engaging demonstration, the chef will talk you through the origins and development of gelato, so you can understand how this simple dessert became a true Italian icon.

You’ll get to know the classic fresh ingredients that go into gelato and the techniques that give it its smooth texture and intense flavor. You’ll also receive useful tips on how to recognize authentic gelaterie as you travel around Italy, so you can always choose the best spots.

Then the lesson becomes even more delicious as you learn to prepare a homemade waffle cone. You’ll see how to mix butter, sugar and flour into a smooth batter, watch it cook on the griddle until golden, and shape the warm wafer into the signature gelato cone. It’s a playful, sensory moment that makes every bite of your dessert feel even more rewarding.

A family-friendly experience & what you’ll take away

To conclude, you’ll sit down and enjoy the pizza and gelato you have made, with wine served for adults and soft drinks for children, creating a warm, friendly atmosphere to share with the rest of the group.
Before you head out, you’ll receive a graduation certificate and a digital recipe booklet with all the preparations from the class. This way, you can easily recreate your pizza and gelato at home and bring a taste of Italy to your friends and family.
